Illinois health officials reported 1,841 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus and an additional 49 deaths in the last day, along with more than 50,000 vaccines administered.
The reported new cases of coronavirus bring the state total to 1,363,507 cases since the pandemic began and bring the total death toll to 22,369, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
In the last 24 hours, 83,624 coronavirus testing samples were returned to state laboratories, with more than 23 million performed during the pandemic.
The positivity rate at the state level fell to 2.5% of all tests that gave positive results and the positivity rate of people tested in the last seven days decreased to 3.1%, according to data from the IDPH.
The state reported 50,326 vaccines administered on the last day, according to the latest data, which brought the seven-day rotating average of vaccines administered to 72,767 doses.
Since Wednesday, the state has administered more than 10.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic.
At midnight, 1,708 patients were hospitalized due to COVID. Of these patients, 425 are in ICU beds and 237 are currently in state ventilators.
