Last year, comedian and content creator Jimmy Zhang took over the training of One Punch Man for 30 days, a popular physical challenge based on the Saitama character’s training regimen in the anime series. During this time, the YouTuber seriously toned his physique, although he also suffered due to daily workouts and lack of rest time.
In his most recent post, Zhang admits to having “let go” from the One Punch Man video and decides to try a training routine inspired by another very popular anime; Naruto. Specifically, he plans to spend a month working as Rock Lee, a unique character in the fact that he was initially unable to master the same ninja disciplines as his peers and followed his own different training path.
The Rock Lee training that Zhang will do every day consists of:
- 100 push-ups
- 5 minute rope jump
- 5 minutes Stairmaster (with leg weight)
- hand foot
The first week of the challenge, Zhang soon realizes which of these exercises will be the most difficult. “Every workout has its own challenges,” he says. “This hand-footed shit is a constant bitch slap, because every time you try it just fails. You fall in the ass, boom. You fail, you fail, you fail.”
At the end of the first 30 days, Zhang continues to struggle to maintain a hand level toward any decent form. “You may need a couple more weeks,” he says, so he expands Rock Lee’s challenge to a second month. 60 days after starting this workout for the first time, your technique, endurance and performance have improved significantly, as has your muscle definition.
