
Mahindra and Mahindra announced on May 13 a number of initiatives, including financial aid and health insurance, to support their distribution partners during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Indian automotive multinational will provide financial assistance for vaccination and health insurance to the permanent employees of its partner dealers.
The car will also provide financial assistance to the family in the event of death due to COVID-19 from any permanent employee of its dealerships. The company will pay Rs. The dealership will also provide 2.5 lakhs to the employee’s family and 2.5 lakhs of Rs. The financial aid will be applicable to all deaths caused by COVID-19 between 1 February and 31 August this year.
“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect lives and the country in general. In the last 2 months, many of our associates have suffered overwhelming difficulties and our heart is appreciated in each and every one of them. We have always regarded our partners and their employees as our extended family and have given the utmost importance to their health, well-being and safety. Given the current conditions, we would like to expand our support as much as we can, to make sure we stand up against COVID19, ”a letter from Mahindra and Mahindra said.
The company has extended benefits to all its dealers to all permanent employees working since January 1, 2021.
Benefits include full coverage of vaccination costs against COVID-19 up to Rs 1,500 per employee for both doses until March 2022, in order to encourage vaccination of all employees.
The company will also provide medical insurance with a coverage of Rs 1 lakh for COVID-19 related treatment. The insurance also covers home quarantine assistance of up to Rs 10,000 and will be a one-time expense for the next period of one year.
The company statement said: “Through the support mentioned above, we are firmly united in protecting the well-being of all our employees through our country’s dealerships. While we can never make up for the losses suffered by families, this is our way of helping them rebuild (sic) their lives. ”
Mahindra and Mahindra is the latest large Indian corporation that has extended plans and policies to support its employees and partners. Other large corporations that have published similar schemes are Bajaj Auto, Muthoot Finance, Borosil and Sun Pharma.
