Here’s a way to learn about the intricacies of health insurance coverage from one of the top U.S. authorities, all without spending a dime.
Maura Carley, of Darien, founder and president of health insurance consultancy Healthcare Navigation LLC, also based in the city, has released a series of free videos to educate people on basic health insurance coverage issues.
– an announcement from Healthcare Navigation LLC
Each week, Carley and key staff focus on a different aspect of health insurance. Carley has already produced three segments.
Health Insurance Basics includes short videos on terms and concepts that everyone should understand: deductible, coinsurance, network, COBRA coverage, and the pros and cons of selecting it and more.
There is also a Frequently Asked Questions segment and two “Our History” videos featuring Healthcare Navigation and the channel. The Medicare segments and your coverage management are in production.
Carley says the purpose of the video series is to educate people who may be confused with their health insurance coverage and how they can learn more about the coverage options they have at their disposal. Carley stresses that health coverage is one of the most important financial protections we have.
“Over the years, we’ve received too many desperate calls from people who didn’t understand their coverage, which resulted in coverage gaps and unexpected medical bills,” Carley says. “Often, these situations are completely avoidable. Education is essentially a personal risk management and is of vital importance ”.
You can watch Carley’s health insurance videos by clicking here or you can watch it on the YouTube Healthcare Navigation channel.
Each video is accompanied by written information. Prior to founding Healthcare Navigation in 1999, Carley worked for decades in various executive management positions for a New York City medical management company, Kaiser Permanente, Yale-New Haven Hospital and Stamford Hospital.
Armed with years of critical knowledge of the health insurance and healthcare industry, Carley’s firm offers fee-based advice for people who want assistance to manage their coverage on an ongoing basis, as well as for those facing a transition in any type of coverage.
Carley says the Medicare coverage transition service has grown substantially in recent years due to increasing complexity, the importance of understanding revenue indexing, and some of the aggressive releases, and sometimes , misleading for those on Medicare during the open enrollment season.
“Understanding health coverage will serve you and your family forever,” Carley says. She encourages people to tune in every week and let family and friends know that videos are available.
He also appreciates comments and suggestions on other topics of interest. Healthcare Navigation’s corporate office is located in Darien, but there are satellite offices in New York City, Chicago and Bonita Springs, Florida.
