Pardee UNC Health Care is pleased to announce that Chris Parsons, MD, medical director of the Pardee Infectious Diseases Center, has been named a health hero by the North Carolina Healthcare Association (NCHA). According to NCHA, the Healthcare Hero designation is intended to “show special gratitude for the exceptional efforts on behalf of our front-line workers to help co-workers, patients or the community.”
“Dr. Parsons has worked tirelessly to lead Pardee’s COVID response for our community, and it is incredibly deserving of this recognition, ”said David Ellis, MD, medical director of Pardee UNC Health Care. Parsons received his award at the May 26 Board of Directors meeting for Pardee UNC Health Care.
“Throughout the pandemic, it has helped create prevention and treatment plans, partnered with UNC Health to bring cutting-edge COVID treatments to Henderson County, and created guidelines and policies to keep first-time workers safe. line and has helped create and lead a drive through the community testing site, “said Dr. Ellis.” These efforts were added to the on-call permanence for patient care and to dedicate countless hours to educate our staff and community about the safety and effectiveness of COVID vaccines.
Dr. Parsons is certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases and specializes in the treatment of general infectious diseases, bone and joint infections, cancer infections, hepatitis C and HIV. He graduated in medicine from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then did an internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases and international health at the University of Virginia. Dr. Parsons has been named three times on the list of the best doctors in America® and was named Pardee UNC Health Care Doctor of the Year.
