Nemours Children’s Health System announced a brand change.
The new name and brand were shared with Nemours associates during a Founder’s Day virtual event commemorating the philanthropic legacy of Alfred I. duPont.
“Nemours’ new strategy is designed to achieve our vision of creating the healthiest generations of children, ”said R. The organization will simplify its name to Nemours Children’s Health, creating a unified brand in the five-state health system, which operates two hospitals, including the flagship hospital near Wilmington, a network of nearly 80 primary care clinics. and specialized, a National Office of Policy and Prevention, an international program, and a corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, FL. The switch to Nemours Children’s Health will take place in August.

The Nemours Foundation will continue to be the official name of the organization that provides more than 1.7 million annual patient meetings. The changes announced today will be reflected in the names of its hospitals and specialist, primary and urgent care locations to more closely connect the Nemours name with the breadth of communities served. Nemours will change its name from Nemours / Alfred I. duPont Children’s Hospital to Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware.
To honor Alfred I. duPont as a benefactor of Nemours, Nemours has established the Alfred I. duPont Campus, which houses several entities located on his estate: Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, Nemours Mansion and Gardens, and the Carillon Tower. final resting place of Alfred I. duPont, his wife, Jessie Ball duPont, and his brother-in-law, Edward Ball.

Through the new plan, Nemours will also increase investment in initiatives, including improving the entire child health care model, assessing, creating and promoting a national strategy for children’s health, innovation in health benefit system research and leveraging clinical experience.

DuPont’s last wishes were for a hospital to be built on the Nemours estate, his Delaware home, named after his great-grandfather, Pierre Samuel DuPont de Nemours, who had represented the Nemours district in France’s national assemblies. .
Alfred duPont, an inventor and supporter of medical research, believed in the importance of nature and light in healing, which is incorporated to this day into Nemours hospitals and outpatient clinics.
Alfred DuPont had ties to Delaware and Florida. After leaving DuPont Co., he built a business empire in Florida that included forest land, real estate, and a railroad.
