Terre Haute, Ind. (WTWO / WAWV) – In collaboration with Mental Health America, the Terre Haute Reform Movement organized a community debate in Fairbanks Park.
Community members gathered to relax and learn about how to improve their mental health. Social workers, therapists and mental health specialists took part in the event.
Speakers encouraged the public to be open about mental health struggles. Attendees at the event participated in mental health exercises, including a talk on awareness and meditation.
Dominique Morefield, a member of the Reform Movement, said: “It seemed to me that there were a lot of mental health issues that people shun, such as substance abuse issues, so we wanted to make it a broad conversation about some of the toughest problems we can encounter in our community. ”
