As public health departments close mass vaccination clinics due to low turnout, they are looking for new ways to reach people. In Austin, a group of vaccinators who distributed fewer doses than expected at a school festival set up shop in a nearby El Rancho supermarket parking lot to offer shots to shoppers. After the store manager found out what was going on, nearly three dozen workers went out to get vaccinated.
“Everyone wanted to get vaccinated,” said Karim Nafal, the store’s owner, “but I didn’t know how or where.”
And in Cleveland, the alliance between the church group, volunteer vaccinators and the city’s public health department caused Mr. Grayson to get a vaccine last morning. Hired to do a paint job at Lee Road Church, he was told there were shots in the hallway if he wanted to.
“Come on,” Mr. Grayson insisted to two unvaccinated co-workers, who also offered the weapons. “Is here”.
