Tibbits Summer Theatre’s “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” perfect for all ages

July 9, 2021 by Staff Reporter

Join Charlie Brown, Snoopy and friends as Tibbits Summer Theatre presents the charming, fun, and witty musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” July 14-23 at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater.

Certain to delight kids of all ages, the family-friendly musical is charming, witty and fun. “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the whole “Peanuts” gang. Join the familiar comic strip friends as they explore life’s great questions while playing baseball, lamenting over homework, swooning over their crushes, and celebrating the joy of friendship. Musical numbers include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “Suppertime,” “Happiness,” and more.

Tibbits Artistic Director Peter Riopelle said, “We chose this show for the season because we wanted to make absolutely certain we had something specifically for the kids and grandkids. We here at Tibbits dearly love our Young Audiences and we have a major commitment to serving them.” He added, “When it sadly became clear that we would not be able to offer our regular Popcorn Theatre Series again this year, a visit with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang seemed like the perfect alternative.”

Tibbits Summer Theatre features a core group of professional actors and theatre designers from across the United States. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will include Michael Motkowski as Charlie Brown, Jack Hopewell as Snoopy, Liz Davis as Lucy, Stephen Vaught as Linus, Brooke Jackson as Sally, and Nile Birch as Schroeder. The production will be directed by Matthew C. Scott with music direction by Wayman Ezell. It will feature lighting design by Catie Blencowe, set design by Matthew C. Scott, costume design by Dusti Donbrock, and sound design by Henry Sendek. Lexa Walker leads the technicians as technical director with Rachel Marengere as stage manager, and Josh Rockwell, Scott Pauley, Leon Kriser, and Chloe Ammond rounding out the technical staff.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” along with the rest of the 2021 TST Season, is presented through the generous sponsorship support of Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher, P.C.; Parrish Excavating, Inc.; and Frederick Family Dental. Additional sponsors include Coldwater Orthodontics & Aligner Center; Dr. Jon & Seibra Herbener; The Bushouse Family; ASAMA Coldwater Manufacturing; Coldwater Exchange Club; Matthew C. Christopher, DDS; Great Lakes Chiropractic; Honor Credit Union; and Vested Risk Strategies. Additional funding is provided by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tickets for “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” are $28 (including fees), with discounts available to Tibbits members and $15 children’s rates. Chicago St. in Coldwater 9 am to 5 pm weekdays or by calling 517-278-6029.
