Adopting a vegan diet could significantly lower the risks for CVD and other conditions, according to speakers at the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists meeting.

During a presentation, Hana Kahleova, MD, PhD, MBA, and Meghan Jardine, MS, MBA, RND, LD, CDCES, both from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, compared the health benefits of vegetarian and vegan diets with other plant-based eating patterns, including the Mediterranean diet.
