May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. And something can be fantastic for our well-being: exploring the outdoors, especially considering the last 15 months we’ve endured. That said, a recent study investigated major national mental health parks. Indeed, Yellowstone is one of the most important national parks in the world for this.
In a list of the “15 Best National Parks for Mental Health,” Yellowstone National Park ranked sixth and was one of only two in the United States. The other is Denali National Park, located in Alaska.
Determining factors were things like the amount of green space, the number of lakes, the types of plants and animals, the levels of air pollution, the number of visitors and other activities like hiking, boat trips and more.
Money.co.uk cited the observations of abundant wildlife such as bones, lynx, and so on. they were good for visitors between their walks in the park. The publication also said this about the full attention of the parks:
With 140 lakes to explore and enjoy the scenery, it is a quiet place for everyone. They also have a lot of activities, including five different boat / cruise excursions that will take you to the lake to enjoy the amazing views. The views and being outdoors will help you relax your mind and encourage you to breathe.
The most important national park in the world was the Swiss National Park of Switzerland. It was followed by Banff National Park in Canada, Fiordland National Park in New Zealand, Jasper National Park in Canada and Goreme National Park in Turkey. Denali National Park finished eighth on the list.
Despite having to drive a few hours to do so, it’s good to know that in Wyoming we have one of the most important national parks in the world in mental health. If you have to go out in Yellowstone this summer, enjoy it to the fullest!
